For a number of years, BOTOX® has been FDA-approved for use in head and neck pain, as well as for dental related therapies. Botox® reduces the amount of muscle tension responsible for head, neck, and jaw pain which can cause teeth grinding during awake and sleeping hours.
More and more, BOTOX® is used as an alternative treatment for TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) disorders and associated jaw tension and pain that comes with TMJ. When injected By Dr. Whitaker into the sore facial muscles, the TMJ and jaw tension are relived thus eliminating headaches caused by teeth grinding and stress.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers in dentistry are generally used in conjunction with various cosmetic dentistry and smile makeover procedures that would include gum work, dental veneers, dental implants, orthodontic treatment, and more. Once these procedures have been done, fine lines or wrinkles around your mouth may be visible and using dermal fillers can be used to eliminate them.
Also, over time, areas of your face will start to sag due to age and other factors. Due to this loss of fat, your facial muscles will start working closer to the skin’s surface which causes smile lines to be more apparent and skin to become looser. Dermal fillers will add volume to these areas and will make you look younger.
